About Us

Welcome
Thanks for stopping by.
If you've found your way here, chances are you're restoring, maintaining or simply enjoying a BMW 2002. We've been there too.
For many restorations, the interior is one of the last jobs to tackle. That's exactly where we found ourselves. After years of mechanical work, bodywork and paint, we figured fitting a new carpet would be one of the easier tasks.
It wasn't.
The carpet kit we purchased simply wasn't up to the standard we expected. The fit was poor, it required extensive modification just to install, and by the time we'd finished, it had cost far more in time and effort than it should have.
So we decided to build something better.
That's how 2002Carpets.com.au begun.
Our goal was simple: produce a carpet kit that we'd genuinely be happy to fit to our own car. One that fits properly, looks right, is reasonably priced, and removes as much frustration from the installation process as possible.
We're incredibly proud of the carpet kits we now offer to fellow BMW 2002 owners across Australia and around the world. And we're only just getting started—there are plenty more products currently in development.
We hope you enjoy having a look around, and if you have any questions or suggestions, we'd love to hear from you.
Happy motoring,
Our Story
Our own 1968 BMW 2002 has been an ongoing labour of love since 2018.
We bought it as an abandoned project that had already received much of the hard work. It still needed final paint, complete reassembly and, as every project car owner knows, countless hours spent sorting all the little details.
The photo below was taken during the 2021 Adelaide Rally Prima Tour in South Australia. At the time we thought the car was finally finished.
It turns out no project car is ever really finished.
After the rally we noticed the oil pressure was a little low at idle, so out came the engine for a complete rebuild. While it was apart, we couldn't resist adding a few mild performance upgrades to make the car even more enjoyable to drive.
We're looking forward to getting back to the Adelaide Rally one day, along with plenty more local drives, club events and track days.
After all, these cars weren't built to sit in the garage—they're built to be driven.
